What Is Chef's Pure Pet?
Chef's Pure Pet is a California-based raw and gently-cooked pet food company making frozen meals for dogs and cats using meats and vegetables sourced from local California farmers. Every product is made in a USDA-certified facility in Mendota, CA — free from grain, corn, soy, added hormones, and antibiotics. The brand was founded in 2018 after 18 years of family experience in the pet treat industry, in response to widespread inconsistencies and unnecessary fillers found in commercial raw pet food at the time.
Why We Started
Our family spent 18 years producing pet treats in a USDA-certified facility alongside local California farmers. We understood what went into food made right — and by 2018, we could see that most raw pet food brands did not meet that standard. We saw inconsistencies in ingredient sourcing, unnecessary fillers added to bulk out products, and marketing claims that overstated nutritional value without evidence to back them up.
We started Chef's Pure Pet to fix that. We applied the same sourcing relationships, the same USDA facility standards, and the same no-shortcut approach we had used for nearly two decades in pet treats — and built a raw food line around it. The result is a product we are confident enough to put our name on: simple ingredients, honest formulations, made in California.
How Our Food Is Made
All Chef's Pure Pet products are produced in our USDA-certified facility in Mendota, CA. Meats and vegetables are sourced from local California farmers — no grain, corn, soy, added hormones, or antibiotics, ever. Every batch is tested before it ships.
We make raw frozen meals in three protein varieties — turkey, beef, and chicken — available as burgers (3 lb bags, 6 servings) and sliders (2 lb bags, approximately 32 servings). Products can be served raw directly from the bag, or safely cooked by microwave, stovetop, or refrigerator thaw. Beef should reach 145°F when cooked; chicken should reach 165°F. Our gently-cooked items are prepared sous vide to 165°F for full lethality before packaging.
